Do I have to choose and pay for a payroll option?

To receive the current payroll update and have your payroll tax withholdings calculate automatically in QuickBooks, you must choose either QuickBooks Standard Payroll, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or QuickBooks Assisted Payroll.

We recommend that you keep an active payroll subscription at all times to receive payroll updates as changes to payroll regulations occur throughout the year.

If you do not have Internet access from the computer on which you have QuickBooks installed, you will not be able to use either QuickBooks Standard Payroll, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or QuickBooks Assisted Payroll. To learn how to use QuickBooks payroll without Internet access, scroll down to review "Do I have to use the Internet to do payroll?" below.

Can I change my mind later?

Yes, you may add or change which service you use at any time. To learn which options are available and how to change your service, choose Add/Change Payroll Service from the Employees menu in QuickBooks. To learn which options are available to you now, select Learn more about QuickBooks Standard Payroll, Learn more about QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or Learn more about QuickBooks Assisted Payroll.

Is the Tax Table Service still available?

The Tax Table Service has been replaced by QuickBooks Standard Payroll and QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll in QuickBooks 2000 and 2001. QuickBooks Standard Payroll and QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll provide the same tax table and form updates available from the Tax Table Service. The Tax Table Service continues to be available for QuickBooks versions 6.0 and 99.

If you currently have a Tax Table Service subscription, you may apply your remaining subscription toward a QuickBooks Standard Payroll or QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll subscription. To do this, close this window, choose QuickBooks Standard Payroll or QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, click Continue and follow the instructions to sign up for QuickBooks Standard Payroll or QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll. Please have your Tax Table Service customer number available.

How do I choose an option and sign up?

Detailed information on QuickBooks Standard Payroll, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, and QuickBooks Assisted Payroll can be found by clicking Learn more about QuickBooks Standard Payroll, Learn more about QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or Learn more about QuickBooks Assisted Payroll. After you've decided which option is right for you, select the payroll option, click Continue and follow the instructions provided.

How do I sign up for Direct Deposit?

Direct Deposit allows you to pay your employees electronically. This feature is available with QuickBooks Standard Payroll, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, and QuickBooks Assisted Payroll. When you sign up for either of these services, you will be able to add the Direct Deposit option. To learn more about QuickBooks Standard Payroll, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or QuickBooks Assisted Payroll, including Direct Deposit, select Learn more about QuickBooks Standard Payroll, Learn more about QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll, or Learn more about QuickBooks Assisted Payroll.
